Pilates targets the deep postural muscles. It helps the body to become longer, leaner and more toned. It improves posture, achieving balance between strength and flexibility. Pilates is ideal for athletes looking to enhance their performance, fine tune their technique and reduce their risk of injury, it is also ideal for first time exercisers. Its slow, precise and controlled approach means that it gives long-term results.
Established in 1996, the The Body Control Pilates® Method has broken down the "classical" Pilates exercises, into a safe and effective program. In this way Body Control Pilates® teachers can work with first time exercisers, older clients, clients needing rehabilitation after injury or an operation, as well as challenging elite athletes.
I have always been interested in sport and fitness particularly riding, dance and cross country running. A desk bound job and a chronic back problem led me to Pilates nearly 20 years ago and I qualified as a Pilates teacher in 2006 with the Body Control Pilates Association, since then I have attended many courses to increase my knowledge of the physical conditions that might affect people as well as enhance my teaching.
I qualified as a Yoga teacher in 2010 through Real Yoga (www.realyoga.co.uk). Yoga has helped me better understand the connection between body and mind, movement and stillness and to improve breathing to achieve better overall health and wellbeing.
Pilates and Yoga training are successfully combined to give a challenging and rewarding class. There are classes for younger and older clients, for those wishing to improve their strength, stamina, flexibility and wellbeing, to help people with chronic back problems and those recovering from injury. The class for competing riders is specifically aimed to deepen the seat, improve strength and flexibility and control the stresses of competition.
I offer one to one classes for a few clients with specific needs, from my home on the beautiful Eastnor Castle Estate. My group classes are held in different and well suited venues. Please see current schedule.
