About Pilates

Pilates targets the deep postural core muscles, building strength from the inside out, rebalancing the body and bringing it into correct alignment. It helps to reshape the body which will become longer, leaner and more toned. It improves posture, achieving the perfect balance between strength and flexibility. Better breathing helps relieve stress and tension. Pilates is ideal for athletes looking to enhance their performance, fine tune their technique and reduces their risk of injury, it is also ideal for first time exercisers. Its slow, precise and controlled approach means that it gives long-term results. It is especially recommended by medical specialists for those with back problems.

Body Control Pilates®

Based on the work of Joseph Pilates (1880-1967) The Body Control Pilates® Method has broken down the "classical" Pilates exercises, which take years to perfect and are probably well beyond the capabilities of the average person, into a safe and effective program. In this way Body Control Pilates® teachers can work with first time exercisers, older clients, clients needing rehabilitation after injury or an operation, as well as challenging elite athletes.

These good movement skills are taught step-by-step, which will ultimately give you the strength and flexibility needed to perform the more advanced classical Pilates exercises. Class size will never exceed 12 people ensuring close supervision and support for each individual.

About Alexandra Lyons

I have always been interested in sport and fitness particularly riding, dance and cross country running. A desk bound job and a chronic back problem led me to Pilates more than 10 years ago and I have not looked back! I feel fitter, happier and have better posture than I ever had before. I particularly enjoy helping my riding clients achieve a deeper riding seat and better balance. I work with young and older clients and help people with chronic back problems and those recovering from injury.

About My Classes

I teach my clients on a one to one basis from my home on the beautiful Eastnor Castle Estate. My group classes are held in different and well suited venues in the Three Counties.
